My experience at the Papiliorama in Kerzers, Switzerland

My experience at the Papiliorama in Kerzers, Switzerland

In search of an escape from the biting cold of winter, our visit to the Papiliorama in Kerzers was a true breath of tropical air. Located in Switzerland, this botanical garden is home to thousands of butterflies fluttering freely in a carefully crafted environment that resembles their natural habitat. Not only is this enchanting place extremely attractive to children, but it also offers an amazing educational experience for families. Let’s explore this unique adventure together.

Entering the Tropical World

As soon as you enter the Papiliorama, you are instantly transported to a world far away from the freezing temperatures. The dome at 25°C, surrounded by lush vegetation, is a true delight for the senses. Colorful butterflies fly around us, creating a magical atmosphere. As we stroll through the paths, we felt like we were wandering in a tropical forest, with each corner revealing fascinating species.

The Nocturama

Another incredible attraction of the Papiliorama is the Nocturama. In this nocturnal area, we discovered fascinating animals thriving in the dark. The dimmed lights allowed us to get close to creatures rarely seen in daylight. The bats flying around us added a touch of excitement to our visit, while we watched sloths lazily swinging overhead.

The Jungle Trek

The Jungle Trek

Our adventure continues with the Jungle Trek, a forest from Central America where you can explore botanical beauty in a replica of a protected ecosystem in Belize. Orchids and other tropical plants flourish here, along with beautiful free-flying birds. We were even lucky enough to spot a toucan striking a pose, a memorable moment that delighted the whole family.

The Wild Seeland and the Zoé Zoo

Outside, we visited the Wild Seeland, where local wildlife takes center stage. The facilities allow us to learn more about the local ecosystem. A little detour to the Zoé Zoo thrilled the younger ones with its close-up animals. The joy of a child petting rabbits or goats is unimaginable and contributes to the magic of the day.

A Place to Have Fun

Children also have access to a wooden play area outside, providing a natural setting for play. This small spot, bursting with life, allows parents to relax while keeping an eye on their children. Additionally, a space for a picnic proved very practical as we had prepared some snacks before coming.

Knowledge at the Heart of the Visit

Knowledge at the Heart of the Visit

The Papiliorama is not just a place for recreation; it is also a site dedicated to the conservation of ecosystems. The educational panels lining the educational path provide valuable information on species preservation. Particular attention is given to raising awareness among young visitors, making the experience both fun and enriching.

A Moment of Wonder with Family

My two-year-old son was amazed throughout our exploration. He particularly became fond of the butterflies, especially a blue specimen that was fluttering near us. This interaction sparked laughter and applause, making this day unforgettable and reinforcing our family bond. Papiliorama was able to capture my little one’s attention while also offering an experience we cherish as a family.

My visit to the Papiliorama of Kerzers is truly an experience I recommend to anyone wishing to immerse themselves in a world rich in biodiversity. Children and adults alike can appreciate the beauty of butterflies while learning about the importance of protecting our planet and its many species. With so many fun activities and learning spaces, this place embodies the spirit of travel and discovery with family, through immersion in truly inspiring environments. The magic of butterflies, the interaction with animals at the Zoé Zoo, and the smile on my son’s face reminded me of how precious it is to spend time together in such an enchanting setting. Papiliorama is much more than just a garden; it is a place where wonder meets education, and where every visit creates lasting memories.
